Too Big to Handle? Not for Someone. Meet Bear, the 115 lb Love Bug.

When Bear was surrendered to the shelter, he didn’t know what was coming next. At 7 years old and 115 pounds, this big bully pitbull quickly ended up on the euthanasia list. Not because he was aggressive, but because he was “too hard to handle.” He pulled on the leash, was strong, and simply overwhelmed the limited shelter staff.

Here’s the truth: Bear is a GIANT (no pun intended) sweetheart. He was goofy, affectionate, and all love. He just needed someone who could see past the size and into his soul.
Thankfully, a network of volunteers rallied for him; posting videos, sharing his story, doing everything possible to buy Bear more time. That’s when Keith entered the picture.
While vacationing in Miami, Keith, an angel in the rescue world who has saved countless dogs, came across Bear’s video. Something about that crooked “Harry Potter” tail got to him. He visited the shelter and met Bear in person. One tail wag later, Keith knew Bear was his dog.
Just like that, Bear had a second chance. He made the trip home to Orlando where he now lives with two siblings and a backyard big enough for his 115-pound heart.
This is the power of community.
This is why we share their stories.
Sometimes, the right person just hasn’t seen them yet.
